Veena B. Dubal
Fellow at the Center for Research on Social Change

Veena B. Dubal is a Ph.D. candidate in Jurisprudence and Social Policy at UC Berkeley and a Fellow at the Center for Research on Social Change. From 2008-2011, Veena served as Staff Attorney at the Asian Law Caucus where she directed the National Security and Civil Rights Program. Currently, Veena serves as the Co-Chair of the Public Interest Committee for the North American South Asian Bar Association, sits on the Board of the Berkeley Law Foundation, and is a Police Review Commissioner for the City of Berkeley. In all of these capacities, Veena is committed to coalition building across communities of color and the principles of justice, unity, and equality. Veena is the recipient of numerous academic and professional awards, including the Fulbright Grant, the Berkeley Law Foundation fellowship, the Northern California South Asian Bar Association Public Interest Attorney of the Year Award, and the Minority Bar Association Unity Award for her work in the South Asian, Arab, and Muslim communities. Veena graduated from Stanford University where she majored in International Relations and minored in Feminist Studies before completing her law degree at UC Berkeley School of Law. She is the proud mother of James Dubal Gilfoil.
