STUDENTS ARE ASKING
“Why should we attend the NASABA
convention?”
Well, one of the most important opportunities that
NASABA offers law students is the ability to network with attorneys
from across the country. The atmosphere at the convention makes
it very easy to approach and speak with some of the most well respected
and influential South Asians in the legal field. Even if you already
have a summer associate position or an offer for post graduation,
the attorneys at the convention are some of the best and brightest
in our community and their insight, experience and advice will go
far in helping streamline and accelerate your career. In addition,
the South Asian community is one of the fastest growing minority
communities in the US. By attending the NASABA convention, students
will have the ability to meet and get involved with the people who
are working on protecting and being a voice for our growing community.
Take advantage of this amazing opportunity. Every
attorney attending the convention is doing so to get involved with
and help our community. Law students are the future advocates of
our community, and thus most attendees will be happy to take the
time to chat with you.
We hope this has helped increase your understanding
of why NASABA and its convention are important parts of the South
Asian Legal community and how that community does not start post
BAR passage, but in fact starts from your first year in law school.
NASABA is proud to welcome the students of our community to join
us in Chicago, and we hope to see all of you at the convention.
“What should I wear to the NASABA
convention?”
The simple answer: BE PROFESSIONAL. Business
attire (e.g., business suits) is the standard for the entire conference
until Saturday night, with the exception of the After Hours events
and Yoga, of course. Please wear business attire to all of the official
Convention events, such as the panels and networking receptions.
Both Indian and American semi-formal attire (e.g. attire one would
wear to a nice wedding that is not black tie) are welcomed at the
Saturday Evening Cocktail Reception and Annual Banquet.
